This food truck financing calculator works out the monthly payment and the total cost, including the down payment, from a truck or trailer price, down payment, interest rate and term. Ravenside Lending, a small-business funding broker in Macon, GA, provides it for Middle Georgia food businesses as illustrative arithmetic only, not an offer or estimate of terms.
How to use it
- Price: the full price of the truck or trailer, including the kitchen build-out if it is sold as one unit.
- Down payment: cash you put in at signing. The calculator finances the rest.
- Interest rate: the yearly rate quoted to you, or any rate you would like to try.
- Term: the count of monthly payments in the offer.
The results are the monthly payment and the total cost, which adds every payment to the down payment. That is all the calculator computes.
Testing the math at zero interest
To see that the arithmetic works, try a hypothetical price of $50,000, a $10,000 down payment, a zero interest rate and a 40-month term. The calculator should show a $1,000 monthly payment and a $50,000 total cost: $40,000 in payments plus the $10,000 down payment. With any interest, the payment and the total rise. These figures test the arithmetic; they are not an offer and say nothing about the terms a lender would set.
Steps to do by hand
Two questions owners often ask are outside what the calculator does, so work them out separately:
- Financing cost alone: subtract the price from the total cost. The difference is what the financing adds.
- Weekly view: to compare the payment with weekly sales, multiply the monthly payment by 12 and divide by 52.
Fees, insurance, permits, commissary costs and taxes are not included. Add them separately when you budget.
Food trucks are food service, not trucking
A food truck business is classified with restaurants and food service. Ravenside Lending does not arrange trucking or freight fleet financing, but a food truck or trailer used to sell food can be discussed as equipment financing. The restaurant financing page covers food service funding in Bibb County more broadly, where 648 food service businesses ran without paid employees in 2024 (U.S. Census Bureau, Nonemployer Statistics 2024).
Before you rely on the numbers
Everything the calculator shows is illustration, not a quote. A lending partner sets the actual rate, term and down payment, and may add fees that change the total. Compare offers on total cost. The guide library has Georgia guides on liens and licensing that apply to food businesses too.
